This page archives all Plural releases from the initial public launch in June 2022 through version 1.19 in December 2023. Each accordion below summarises what was added, changed, or fixed in that release. For releases from version 1.20 onward, see the individual release note pages in this section.
Version 1.19 was a landmark release introducing three major new products alongside Knowledge Base improvements and a range of bug fixes.New Features
  • Plural Web Widget — Embed your Plural Avatar on any website without writing code. Customise the chat bubble colour, hint text, and widget position from within Plural, then copy-paste a generated code snippet onto your page. No coding required.
  • Avatar Builder (Beta) — Create and customise your own Plural Avatar directly in the platform. Change appearance, select clothing styles, add your logo, and more.
  • Plural Embedded — A JavaScript-library integration mode that lets your developers embed the Avatar and its full capabilities — including TTS, STT, and advanced logic — into your own products and applications. Available for selected customers only; contact Humanizing to enquire.
  • Knowledge Base website parsing — When adding data sources to your Knowledge Base, you can now select Websites as a source type. Set the crawl depth to 1 to also include pages linked from the main URL.
Improvements
  • IoT Element — Export cURL — New Copy Live-cURL and Copy Test-cURL buttons in the IoT element generate a ready-to-use cURL command (POST, with authentication header and JSON payload) copied straight to your clipboard.
Bug Fixes
  • Knowledge Base broke when a custom prompt contained curly braces {}; now fixed.
  • QR codes were displayed too close to buttons; spacing has been corrected.
  • Translating the & character incorrectly produced &; now fixed.
  • Projects were saved when clicking out of a modal instead of cancelling; now fixed.
  • Primary and secondary language previews did not update when colour changes were made in the other language; now fixed.
  • Three-button layouts were incorrectly triggering a scrollbar; now fixed.
  • Adding a secondary language before creating any frames led to issues; now fixed.
  • Knowledge Base state failed to update after a second data source was uploaded; now fixed.
Version 1.18 introduced auto-translation as a beta feature and added a number of useful workflow improvements.New Features
  • Auto-Translate (Beta) — Automatically translate all text in your flow into secondary languages. Enable it from the toggle in the top bar of your project. When auto-translate is on, any change you make in the primary language is translated and applied to secondary languages automatically. You can still override any individual translation in the secondary language — once you do, that field is locked from further automatic updates.
  • Translate non-DeepL languages — Translation for languages not supported by DeepL is now available via Google Translate. Always review machine-translated content for accuracy.
  • Flow search — Press Cmd/Ctrl + F or click the search icon to search your entire project for keywords. You can search by element title, button names, or any text in the Design Editor.
Improvements
  • IoT Trigger — Custom JSON response — IoT Trigger elements now support a custom JSON response body.
  • Knowledge Base Sample Project language selector — A language selector is now shown when you create a quick Knowledge Base project.
  • Language Selector Element — You can now switch language by setting a variable, making it possible to use a question element to let users pick a language and then feed that choice into a single Change Language element.
  • Custom prompts in Knowledge Base UI element — Each Knowledge Base UI element can now have its own custom prompt, letting you query the same Knowledge Base in different ways without duplicating it.
  • Delete Avatar robots — You can now delete virtual Avatar robots from your account.
  • Condition operators for system variables — All string operators (such as contains) are now available for use in conditions that reference system variables.

  • Fixed a crash caused by a variable containing a very large number of characters.
  • Fixed a bug where “Save answer” in question or menu elements failed to save some responses.

  • Fixed a broken link in the custom plugin element hint.
  • Fixed various visual issues on secondary-language screens.
Version 1.17 added navigation buttons to all standalone elements, a stationary device registration flow, and improvements to the website element, subtitles, and mobile layout.New Features
  • Navigation Buttons for all standalone elements — Back, repeat, and forward navigation buttons can now be added to every standalone element. Toggle them on inside the element to create additional exits, then connect them to wherever makes sense in your flow. When connected, the buttons appear in the top-left corner of the element during playback.
  • Plural Stationary device registration — A new button on the My Avatars & Robots page lets you register stationary-plan devices directly.
  • Robot speech and Media Designer in Website/Plugin elements — The Website and Plugin elements now support robot speech and the full Media Designer, letting your Avatar introduce or narrate the website content shown.

  • Plural on mobile (vertical view) — The CSS layout for mobile devices in portrait orientation has been reworked for a much improved appearance on phones and tablets.

  • Knowledge Base Conversations page — View all exchanges between users and your Knowledge Base, organised into conversations. You can also delete individual conversations from this page.
  • Custom answers — Choose any conversation and manually correct a specific answer given by the Knowledge Base, useful when the AI response is inaccurate or when your documents do not contain the answer.
  • Customer Feedback page — The same conversation data sorted by rating, making it easy to identify negative interactions and improve the Knowledge Base by adding manual answers.
  • Knowledge Base Analytics — A new Usage page provides detailed, organised data on how your Knowledge Base is being used.
  • Trackpad mode — A new trackpad mode (toggle via the touch icon in the bottom-left corner) improves the canvas navigation experience for laptop trackpad users.
  • Generate Avatar link from Knowledge Base Playground — After cloning a Playground project using Clone to my projects, you now receive a direct link to your Avatar project.
Improvements
  • Streamed Knowledge Base answers — Answers from the Knowledge Base are now streamed token-by-token in both the chat and Avatar modes, showing the user the response a few milliseconds sooner.
  • Updated copy/paste rules for multilingual projects — New rules ensure the primary language of the target project always has content when you paste elements. Specifically:
    • Same primary language: copies the complete element with text.
    • Different primary language but the target’s primary language is in the source: copies the element with text from the relevant secondary language.
    • Incompatible primary languages: copy/paste is blocked with an error message.
  • Fix for project cloning across organisations — Cloning a project to another organisation now correctly copies all media content such as images.
Version 1.15 was the launch of the Plural AI Knowledge Base in beta, plus a suite of multilingual productivity features and quality-of-life improvements.New Features

    • A Data Sources page to upload, view, and delete PDFs.
    • A Playground page to test the Knowledge Base in a chat interface before adding it to your project.
    • Analytics to understand what your audience is asking and improve your data source over time.
    • Settings to adjust creativity (Precise vs Normal), write a post-answer message, and customise the GPT prompt. Contact your sales representative to enable Knowledge Base on your account.
  • One-time translation into a secondary language — Add a secondary language and choose Clone flow with One-Time translation to have Plural translate your entire primary-language project into the new language in one step. A formal/informal tone toggle is available for supported languages.
  • Bulk translation of speech and button text variations — Translate all robot speech and button text variations for a secondary language in one batch operation.
  • Toggle STT result visibility on/off — A new cogwheel option called Show user voice input lets you hide the real-time speech-to-text transcription from appearing on screen while the user is speaking.
  • Avatar switching at runtime — Append ?PluralAvatarID=<id> to your Avatar URL to switch which Avatar character is displayed without changing the underlying project.
  • Re-prompt robot speech toggle — Toggle whether the Avatar should repeat its robot speech when, for example, the chatbot has just responded.
