Available kiosk options for Avatar

All known options for kiosk mode are listed here. Select the one that best suits your use case.

Option A: Kiosk mode for Google Chrome on Windows

Advantages

- Virtual keyboard available

- Simple and quick setup

- Available on all devices with Windows and Google Chrome installed

Disadvantages

- The user can exit this kiosk mode (especially with a virtual or physical keyboard).

- Should not be used in public areas as there is a possibility that it could be lost

OPTION A

Option B: Kiosk mode for Google Chrome on Windows with Explorer disabled

Advantages

- Quick and easy setup

- Available on all devices with Windows and Google Chrome installed

- Very secure if no physical keyboard is connected and the USB ports are covered.

Disadvantages

- No virtual keyboard available.

- Only feasible if no virtual keyboard is required in the application case/project.

OPTION B

Option C: Kiosk users in Windows 11 with Microsoft Edge browser.

Advantages

- Virtual keyboard available

- Quick and easy setup

- Available on all devices with Windows 11 and higher

Disadvantages

- Avatar is designed for the Google Chrome browser, not for the Microsoft Edge browser. - Currently, there are no known features that may not work, but errors may occur due to the use of the Microsoft Edge browser instead of Google Chrome.

OPTION C

Option D: Use third-party software such as “Sitekiosk”

Advantages

- Very secure

- Virtual keyboard available

- Available on all devices with Windows 11 and Google Chrome browser

- Many additional settings options (updates, restarts, etc.)

- Remote maintenance via HT possible if support is purchased.

Disadvantages

- Costs

Can be purchased and installed yourself, or if support is obtained via HT, this is already included.
