# Install Plural on Your Robot or Display Device

> Set up your target device for Plural — browser-only for Avatar, Android app for Pepper and Temi, and Aldebaran Cloud for NAO V6.

Before you can run a Plural project on a device, you need to prepare that device to receive and display your content. The setup process differs depending on which device type you are using. Select your device below to get started.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Avatar">
    The Avatar is entirely browser-based — there is no app to download or install. Any device with a modern web browser and an internet connection can display a Plural Avatar.

    ### Step 1 — Try the demo

    Open Google Chrome on your target device (smartphone, computer, smart TV, kiosk, etc.) and navigate to the following URL:

    ```
    https://go.plural.io/s/9c453bf582
    ```

    You will see **Albert**, a sample Plural Avatar. Talk to him, touch the on-screen buttons, and get a feel for how the Avatar works. Ask yourself:

    * Does the Avatar understand your voice clearly?
    * Does animation run smoothly on this hardware?
    * Does the face-recognition camera pick you up quickly?

    If performance is poor, consider adding an external camera, a dedicated microphone, or upgrading to a more powerful device.

    ### Step 2 — Plan your deployment environment

    Think about where the Avatar will live in production. A few common considerations:

    | Environment         | Key challenges                                        | Recommended investment                                                                 |
    | ------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
    | Trade show / expo | Background noise, poor connectivity, backlit lighting | High-quality directional microphone, bright display, external camera, cellular hotspot |
    | Reception desk | Moderate noise, reliable Wi-Fi | Standard webcam and microphone |
    | Home / office kiosk | Quiet, stable network | Default device hardware is usually sufficient |

    <Tip>
      A larger screen attracts significantly more attention in busy environments. If you are deploying at an event, invest in the biggest display that fits your space and budget.
    </Tip>

    ### Step 3 — Choose the right browser

    Plural Avatars are optimised for **Google Chrome**. Always use Chrome on your target device for the best experience.

    <Note>
      Contact the Plural support team at [support@humanizing.com](mailto:support@humanizing.com) if you would like hardware recommendations tailored to your deployment scenario.
    </Note>

    Once your device is ready, proceed to [Add a Device](/en/getting-started/add-robot-or-avatar) to connect your Avatar to your Plural account.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Pepper">
    Plural runs as an Android application on Pepper robots that have the Android tablet upgrade. If your Pepper does not yet have Android, contact [contact@humanizing.com](mailto:contact@humanizing.com) to enquire about the upgrade.

    ### Step 1 — Add Humanizing as an administrator in the Pepper Command Center

    The Plural app is distributed through the **Pepper App Store**, so Humanizing Technologies must be set as an administrator on your robot before the app can be assigned.

    <Steps>
      <Step title="Log in to the Pepper Command Center">
        Open [https://command-center.softbankrobotics.com/client/index.html](https://command-center.softbankrobotics.com/client/index.html) in your browser and sign in.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Navigate to My Team → My Users">

      <Step title="Send your details to Humanizing">
        Email your registered **Account Name** and your robot's **Body ID** to [support@humanizing.com](mailto:support@humanizing.com). The team will assign the Plural app to your robot.
      </Step>
    </Steps>

    ### Step 2 — Connect Pepper to a network and install the app

    <Warning>
      Use a personal smartphone hotspot rather than a corporate Wi-Fi network. Corporate firewalls often block the ports that Pepper needs to download software from the App Store.
    </Warning>

    <Steps>
      <Step title="Connect Pepper to Wi-Fi">
        Ensure Pepper is connected to a Wi-Fi network with all required ports open (a personal hotspot works reliably).
      </Step>

      <Step title="Open the Softbank Updater on Pepper">
        On Pepper's tablet, open the **Softbank Updater** and search for new updates.
